    Another dumb question

Depends what you mean by old style. If you mean the rocker style, then no, or at least way more trouble than its worth because the insert is positioned & shaped relative to the shank so the shank needs to be horizontal. If you mean the 'block' style (right) no problem, but you may need...

Rotary Table for machinist, $240, Cambridge, ON

Nice low profile for the table diameter. I wish they still made them like that.

@Janger I tried this kind of hinge. I tried SHCS too a better option was mini dowel pins from Ali which are spit cheap. Just push them in the holes & a drop of CA on one end to keep it in.

Actually there really is no reason not to make a ramp on both sides, just mirror it. Then it wouldn't matter which way the lid went on. The thicker clasp on the lid is the only unique feature. I might make the thumbnail part a bit bigger. I was also thinking of something more like a circular...

The (slightly larger) front latch corresponds to the slot with the tapered entry ramp. To put lid on, first engage the 'rear' latch into its slot, close the lid kind of hinging on that until the front latch clicks into position (assisted entry by the ramp). The front latch is slightly enlarged...

Need to get drill bits for tapping

Drills related to fasteners are kind of an evil thing. Back when life was simple I use to have a simple wood block stand with progressive tap sizes & their corresponding tap drill & clearance drill size in a row. It wasn't very extensive, like 2-56 to 1/4-X at the time. But it was convenient...

@pdentrem the finger groove slot is a good idea. Other trays have that feature, must be for a good reason. I was kind of focusing on the lid & clasp but there is room for improvement, I have not done much STL manipulation. Obviously you were able to make the oblique cut for the finger groove...

This is more of a generic tester but so far seems to work well. I wanted a lid for a typical compartment tray like holding end mills or taps or whatever. I've played around with hinges & sliding lids in a slot but they are kind of fiddly. This uses 2 integral clasps which have a positive...

    John W’s tool grinder

Good progress John What are you using for for aluminum stock to melt? For the (I assume) direct 3DP burnout like part F, what is its thickest dimension like over the hub? I'm doing similar 3DP filling & priming (for a different purpose). These are tiny parts so kind of a PITA. Its kind of like...
