  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. They also said the plastic cases would cause the chambers to rust and paper would not. I don’t know as never left cartridges in a chamber.

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

I put the pulley sizes and motor speed I have in post #90. I think my motor is turning backwards, can not get it to turn the other way even with the plate wiring pictures. The stroke looks faster on the forwards stroke, but, difficult to see.

Welcome to Westwood Metalworks, What is he building in there?

Are you just pouring sand around the pattern and give some vibration, to firm/settle it? Using play sand or a mix, as you earlier said drying the play sand in a picture. Yup, as to the different buckets, does not take much diameter change to make a big difference in volume. Been cot by that that...

A good try! I am wondering about the big burp, I had always used a sprue and a riser, wonder if a riser coming off the side might have helped. It appears there is a void on/in the side in 2 of the 3 last pictures. I can remember the riser sometimes appearing to vent when pouring before totality...

Ya, muzzle loading. It speeded up reloading, the powder and often the slug in later times were in a rolled paper tube. You ripped off the end, poured the power down the barrel ,then rammed the slug down the barrel, often with the paper still around the slug. The powder was premeasured, sometimes...

Tool Alligator clips for Fluke 77iii

I have a few alligators that have a tube for soldering wire into and a few that I have crimped down to fit snugly over the probe ends. So for 48US, I would even run a tap into a tube and solder it to the alligator.

New to me Mitutoyo 340-351-10 Digital Outside 0-5" Micrometer

I don’t think it is a matter of if you need 0.00005 accuracy, it is the fact that you can measure 0.0005 (one less zero then above) and less, if needed. The best thing is that the five standards are there. So it’s not a”you suck!” It’s a “you smart”.

    Where to start...

Perhaps little more info, making model engines, maybe full size. Working on some kind of equipment, making clocks etc. other wise, a hacksaw, drill, file, tap and die set. Don’t get me wrong, not making fun of what your trying to do, just not sure what you want to cut, what you are boreing holes...

    Ammco 6" Metal shaper

Yeah, my ol’man was a good hand on a dozer too. In his later years had a TD 9 to play with, after many years of cable and hydraulic D7s and who knows what else logging. I had an TD6 for a while, a handy size and newer then the TD9 which I ran a bit over my younger years. Was I a good hand on...

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

I use the hand wheel to set stroke, the most important (to me) is making sure there is clearance on the back stroke. Making sure the head is not hitting anything, and giving room for the clapper to return to home position before starting cut. I also like to confirm the over stroke? past the work...
