  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Tips/Techniques Pattern Taper Question

I would put the whole piece in the drag (bottom) with the taper as in the left drawing, but turned over. This way, as the drag is supported, it is much easier to remove pattern after a firm rapping and repairs to the mold are generally also easier, not having to deal with the riser and pouring...

    Missing Images....

Well, I am just as puzzled as before, some of the pictures do nothing? when touched to enlarge, just a white page, some will enlarge and are good (on the i-pad). The phone, all seem to be o.k. Still can not reply to postings with the i-pad. Typed in on the phone with the SMALL pictures cause...

    Best 10" lathe?

So I guess as you have a 10 in. Atlas, and that is/seems to be doing 99% of what you want, that would seem to be the size you want/need, you likely never have a lathe that will do 100% of what comes through the door. As you feel that "doing very precise work" would even be better then perhaps...

    Cheng Ki Turret Mill

I believe some vfd's will convert single phase to 3 phase, we were doing it at work with a number of different pumps. No other phase converters needed. This handles the 3 phase and variable speed. All in 1 box. Are the coolant pump etc. also 3 phase? As I believe using one leg of in coming...

    Best 10" lathe?

I think the biggest thing is to figure out if your making hammer handles or high speed turbines, and then how big the hammer handles/turbines are going to be. A bigger, used lathe is often cheaper then a new small lathe. Remember it does need to be moved to where you want it, new or used, big...

Not set up for a hanging at this time. Still got the saddle and a few ropes, no horse anymore, not been on one maybe 5 years now. Could be project #102 (hanging). As to the problem with images, I got them on the phone, at least the current ones, not checked"older" ones. Not on the i-pad...

Please keep in mind ,there has been some other "stuff" going around too. Wife came down with fairly bad ear infection, in hand with glands and sinuses infected too. Doctor said quite a few people had been in with much the same thing.
