The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Nice! Was it a good class?

Sticky Cool, I scored us a KMS Tools Group account.

I just recently placed a large order at KBC and was going to reach out to the guy I was dealing with unless someone has a larger fish. The guy I'm dealing with is the one who handles all online orders for the company.

    First project - Machinist Hammer

I got an email back from Massimo and he thinks it's possibly to develop custom classes, but he's sending the request to the head of the department to continue the conversation. Will see what they say. I can't see them doing these classes for less than what the other classes are, so I would...

Agree. If they had a handful of manual milling classes I'd be all over that. They do have a MasterCAM class, but I'm more interested in the machine than how to run a CNC software that I likely would not be using anyway as I'd use Mach3.

My biggest obstacle is the residential staircase to my basement shop. There is only so much weight one tread can hold once you factor the machine, a dolly, and 2-3 guys huffing it down the steps. I can't for example see myself hauling a Bridgeport down those steps LOL. As much as I'd love to.

These are the machines I used in my class. I am not looking forward to using my much smaller, cheaper Chinese lathe now. Having worked on these, I think in hindsight I would have purchased a much different machine. Oh well....next one. Josh, Alex and I had lunch today and we discussed reaching...

    First project - Machinist Hammer

Looks like you guys must be in a different class than I was. Who is your instructor? Massimo? I loved every single class. Wish I could do another one with another project. I'd be in there every week without hesitation. I wonder if SAIT would do a custom class if there were enough people...

    Museum of Making Meetup

July 14th works for me too. Would love to go! I've been wanting to go for quite a few years, but after I spoke with Alincochrane last weekend, want to go even more.

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

Yup, because all day long they deal with people who try to under declare, declare nothing and lie about what they are importing. It feels like being honest is such a rarity that when you are, you are often rewarded. I don't think I've ever paid the proper duty or tax on anything as they always...

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

Sounds about right. I try to use one word replies with CBSA and US customs and have as little interaction with either as possible. One of the reasons I have a NEXUS card, but also the reason I declare everything and try to follow the rules to a T. The penalties for NEXUS members are very...
