Alba Shaper 4S Shaper, $1200, Calgary, AB

I'm going to go look at this today (perhaps mistakenly LOL)! Is there any shaper specific inspection advice? I've never inspected one in person before. I will inquire about the clapper and vise of course. Hopefully I can see it under power.

    CA-BC Looking for 12L14 bar

If you have some other items to justify the shipping, Mcmaster carr sells all sorts of materials, and also reamers, drill bits if every size etc. They do sell to residential addresses, just put a bologna business name in the field. I’ve never had any issues.

    ML7 Questions

I could be mistaken, but I don’t think the bed castings are specific to the gear box so I think you should be able to take the gearbox to the undamaged lathe.

    ML7 Questions

That is indeed a clutch assembly on that second lathe. The manual has some decent exploded views for clutch and non-clutch versions, as well as the gearbox and non-gearbox lathes. Alba Shaper 4S Shaper, $1200, Calgary, AB

I understand the clapper is an integral piece of kit. Is there something unique about shaper vices? As there a reason you can’t throw any old vise on there?

Alba Shaper 4S Shaper, $1200, Calgary, AB

Are you referring to something about the shape of the machine, or by the seller's description? lol I'd love to get a shaper eventually, not sure if I have space at the moment. Does anybody know about these machines? I've never heard of the Alba before.

    Xyphota's bicycle related projects

I’ll live with the heat shrink for now, but if it doesn’t hold up to being dragged across a chip filled floor I’ll take you up on it!

    Xyphota's bicycle related projects

It was one of the tube fixturing v-blocks that holds the bicycle frame above the drawing. They are not precision ground or hardened or anything like that so I'm sure it wouldn't have needed anything more than a kiss with a file. The cut in the cable is about a foot from the 14 pin connector so...

    Xyphota's bicycle related projects

So after successfully spoiling 3 weekends due to sickness and injury, I was worried that this weekend would actually go to plan and I'd get to spend some quality time in the shop, but rest assured guys, I managed to spoil this one too! Naturally, with the next step on this project requiring my...
