  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. For all you Radio Control buffs

To me, that seems like a completely built price, made to order. Here’s a kit of what is likely similar, $1000 US: https://www.nationalbalsa.com/en-ca/products/p38lightning?variant=45056459014421

    Rear mounted parting blade.

Next time I visit Australia (to see family) I think I‘ll bring back one of these: Eccentric Engineering upside down parting tool I have their tangential tool holder which is excellent. So easy to sharpen the tools.

I think he’s dreaming in technicolor. At the most I’d give him $500 for the model and whatever the engines and radio are worth second hand. But if you’ve not developed the ability to build a model this nice yourself, then $6k may be a steal? Still seems too expensive by several thousand. I’ve...

Machine StevSmar's PM-833TV Mill and Stand

Making progress, slow progress. What I’ve learn‘t is that: - A track saw is a cumbersome replacement for a table saw. But I don’t have room for a tablesaw. - Having the sides of the stand bow in by about 1mm is a pain in the arse because I then had to size the drawers individually. - I was...

    Who Ordered This Crap?

I think you’re right about that. The readiness of our Politicians to take on greater and greater levels of debts per capita (I’m not sure if this is actually true…I haven’t checked) is concerning. It feels like we’re making a house of cards. Stealing from tomorrow to pay for today. I can sort of...

    Who Ordered This Crap?

I like squirrels, and rabbits. The foxes have moved in though so both of their numbers have declined. Our neighbour across the road traps both of them and moves them “somewhere”. I joke with her that there’s someone living in the area she drops them off that catches them and then brings them back…

    Who Ordered This Crap?

My current understanding is that our economy is based upon continual growth. The generation of today can afford more things because there will be additional people in the future to pay for it (say like getting a larger return on investment for money, a return that’s above the level of inflation)...

    Bragging about the weather.

I like Winnipegs predictability. Today the ground is covered in snow, tomorrow it will be too. It might even still be covered until May.

    Who Ordered This Crap?

At lease in Winnipeg it’s a dry cold… So once you’ve frozen your ears you don’t really feel it (until they start to thaw of course… then it hurts like the dickens)

Lathe Chuck Keys by member 'a smile'

I received my Chuck Key that @a smile made Wow!!! It’s beautifully made. I showed it to my machinist brother in law and he said he’d enjoy just looking at it while sitting beside the ocean having a beer (He’s in Brisbane Auz). It really is that nice. Both he and I feel that the price is a bargain!
