The Great Ontario Foundry Road Trip, 2025

I tried the car too actually. But found just walking/stomping/squishing on it in a tarp worked just as good and wasn't as fiddly. Also tried rolling it it with a big caster wheel, pounding it with a rubber mallet, and also a lot of hand work clumping it up and squishing it around. I think the...

    2 flute or 4 flute

TBH either would work fine for what you're doing (if you drill it first). If you can, I would drill out the majority, then plunge out the rest, running slow rpm with the EM as if you're running a boring head, not a drill. Traditional wisdom says the 2flutes are better for slotting/plunging...

    Metric Standard Modern 13/34 - Toronto, On - $2500

    Metric Standard Modern 13/34 - Toronto, On - $2500

You might be right. I was basing my assumption more on the fact that it isn't painted 5 different contrasting colours....ie "clown college". Being a Std Modern in metric, one could reasonably assume it was either originally purchased by a School board, or by the Gov. The lack of multi Colour...

The Great Ontario Foundry Road Trip, 2025

I've already done the kitty litter homemade green sand a few years ago. It works Ok I guess, got a few projects done with it and got the casting bug from it, but with no muller it's a workout to keep it in good condition when I need it so sporadically. Once I get caught up on a bunch of other...

Nice shape, and a pretty great price for a good quality box.

The Great Ontario Foundry Road Trip, 2025

Looks like quite an adventure. Enjoyed the video. Been meaning to get out to Smelko for a few years now to pickup ingredients for my own greensand, then discovered they were no longer in business. Happy to see it's a retirement and that John started a new business and he is still hobbiest...
