    3 sided precision straight edge

That was what I initially thought too Craig. Those triangular rules are available for many disciplines not just engineering though. I think I might have 6 or 7 different ones. They are particularly useful for making scaled drawings.

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

Yes, That's EXACTLY how I feel. Mine is beautiful just the way it is. I don't plan to do anything with the Gibbs other than make sure they are adjusted to specifications. Besides, my additional analysis says that the Gibbs really won't affect the feed anyway. As has been said, the pawl...

    3 sided precision straight edge

More rigidity than a flat ruler? The indents would facilitate clamping without compromising the top edge? Does it have scales on it like the wooden and plastic versions do?

Homemade Magnetic Mini Tool Rest to turn Wood or Soft Metal

Not sure I understand. Is the first photo a stand to hold the wooden tool storage board in the second photo? Also, that looks like a pretty permanent setup to hold wood turning tools on a metal turning lathe! I turn wood on my metal lathe too, but I prolly wouldn't rig up a special tool rack...

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

Thanks for the two book references. I've been planning to look for a few good books. I'll start with those. Thank you for the shear tool photo. It was perfect for me. Somehow or another my brain was fixated on a flat tool shape the same as I ground for my lathe. So stupid sometimes. If the...

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

I had speculated that a tighter Gibb might act like a pawl. It was just speculation. It would probably stick both ways and be useless. And also accelerate wear. Mine isn't a gear either. It's just an eccentric on the bull gear shaft.

Question on King Canada 10x22” lathe stand

I went looking for the manual for just that reason and couldnt find one for just the stand. Good job Gerrit!

Question on King Canada 10x22” lathe stand

Pretty hard to imagine that doesn't come apart. It would be way too flimsy if it was moved around like it looks in the photo. But I would bring tin snips just in case...... You can always patch it together. Besides, I'd bet the stand would work just fine without the center panel.

4140 crankshaft modifications - propeller hub build

Somehow I knew where this was going right off the git go.... You didn't disappoint - at least not me anyway. Can't speak for the girls......
