    Shoulder check

I had a rule when my kids were growing up. Nobody drives in the snow or ice until they have taken skid training with dad. We offered a police driving school for quite a few years and police staff would come from all across Canada to attend. It was alot of fun but it always amazed me how many...

    Can you drill a magnet?

Ali and Amazon sell magnets that are predrilled. They even sell predrilled neodymium. https://a.co/d/6G61Fov 150 pounds! Wow! Nah, must be wrong units.

OK, so I think I have the same jam nut arrangement. Here is a photo. These nuts totally eliminate all backlash on the screw as evidenced by the dial indicator I mounted between the clapper box and the vise. The lead nut itself is located behind the clapper box and is not visible without...

    Shoulder check

Never heard of any of them. I thought you were referring to someone important - like a forum member. I'm happy to live the rest of my life in the same blissfully unknowing way.

I'm about ready to kill the lights, so foggy is the least of my problems. I don't know if mine has a backlash adjustment or not. Even if it does, it prolly can't adjust out the tiny bit I need to get rid of. Once I reamed out my little NOGA Clone indicator holder to take a regular indicator...

    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

It's called "inside". Put it inside your cross-slide. If I'm not mistaken, I see a taper attachment so you don't even need to worry about where to put the reader.

    UPS gripe

At least they have an excuse. I've had CPost send stuff to BC from London and then back to Toronto before going to Woodstock, then Chatham, then Blenheim. All with the correct postal code.

Who is that? And FWIW, I thought the shoulder check was asking about you too! Too funny!

My terminology is probably AFU. I'm referring to the screw that moves the clapper up and down. Gravity tends to drop it down to the wrong end of the backlash. But as long as it isn't touching anything, it seems to work. The plunge indicator attached to the clapper and bearing on the vise...

Seems I did a lot wrong. I ground the 45 in first (which ended up closer to 120. Then I turned the tool on an angle so the big angle cut was square to the grind stone, held the blank to get a little clearance, and put a round edge with a slight relief on the big cut. That allowed me to get a...
