  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Spindle square

@slow-poke - just thinking out loud..... One doesn't really need square ground blocks to lift the rotor off the table evenly. It would be easy to put 3 round bars in the lathe simultaneously and turn them all to the same length with a HSS bit. If you didn't make yourself a chuck stop yet, maybe...

    Spindle square

@slow-poke - is there a member in your area with a surface grinder? If not, I'll happily grind you a matched set of 3 blocks if you pay the shipping and provide the blocks. I forgot to mention that I made blocks that were taller than my vise so I could tram without removing the vise. (ya ya ya...

    Mystery lathe, for real

You and I met on Saturday. My spindle will accommodate your needs. You are welcome to visit and I bet we can accommodate you. No eating off the floor here though......

    Small Injector Pumps

Hi John, welcome to CHMW. Please consider introducing yourself, your interests, and your machines in the new member introductions sub forum. If you are who I think you are, you already know that I spent a chunk of my career designing full size engines for mass production. I can tell you that...

    Spindle square

Think of the spindle on your mill just like you think about the spindle on your lathe. Anything solidly attached to the spindle will run true to the spindle. It doesn't matter if its square or not. There will be a slight cosine error if the indicator needle isn't square but a small error doesn't...

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

One of the reasons I worry a bit about your motor turning backwards, is the mechanical leverage. When the Ram is driven by a follower with a 5:1 leverage, something could break. It's better to have the leverage low to reduce the possibility of damage.

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

On the 6 and 7 AMMCO Shapers, the Ram is driven back and forth by a vertical arm that is hinge pinned at the bottom and pushes the Ram back and forth at the top. The arm just rocks back and forth as the bull gear slider/eccentric goes around and around. The slider itself is bolted to the bull...

Announcing the 2025 Ontario Meetup April 26 in Aylmer

^ This! I am always fascinated by beautiful telescopes. @pdentrem - you are creating a work of art & love. And it shows. But what really totally blew my mind was your extensive use of 3D printed parts. Amazing..... Thank you for sharing that Pierre!

    9Pc Pin wrench set - $25 - Georgetown, On

Listing is gone. Fake? I have a set of 3 adjustable ones. They are not bad, but I prefer to make a custom one for each tool that needs it.

Tool Alligator clips for Fluke 77iii

I have 4 flukes. All of them do it. I did say it is most likely to happen with leads in a noisy environment. So I'm not surprised that yours doesn't do it without leads. I'm also not surprised that the low end units don't do it. The important thing is that the good meters don't do it when...
