guess I should have mentioned that I've done this before but the point was to get an actual measurement... thought about this too but the tailstock alignment on all of my lathes is suspect haha oh? this is very interesting... 2°5' is very close to the half angle I was getting... thanks!

    measuring a tapered stub

so I have this Lorch LLN lathe that I'm trying to tool up, and I wanted to make a new drill chuck arbour for it for a keyless chuck I recently bought. problem is, the tailstock taper is non-standard (non morse, and also like a half length) and there's no spec I can find for it (this lathe...

Indexing rotary table for milling machine 32.4" Dia, $2500, Toronto, ON

this was a powered-traverse optical rotary table and the optics are broken so i wonder how the previous owners used it... lathes.co.uk has small write up on this guy on this page. always sad to see something of this caliber in such a state - SIP was a machine builder of the highest standard...

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-other-business-industrial/owen-sound/optical-microscope-center-finder-for-milling-machine/1548757064 an indispensable tool in my opinion, for a pretty reasonable cost (if condition is good) - but if you don't know what it is you probably don't need it haha OMT made...

back up the truck part deaux. Monarch 10EE $4500 Barrie ON

I guess the point I'm trying to make is - at 4500$ and 1-2k for transport I'd suggest holding out for a better example. that amount of money, to spend on a machine sight unseen, doesn't seem like a deal or "half price". just my opinion! if you are local and can go kick tires and lowball sure...

back up the truck part deaux. Monarch 10EE $4500 Barrie ON

as a counter argument - I have a machine of similar caliber (holbrook minor) and similar cosmetic condition that's like 30 years newer and given how beat this monarch looks is I wouldn't say it's super worth shipping across the country having a cool lathe is cool but it's kinda cheesy going...
