    Disassembling a Rohm Chuck?

I saw that. That’s the chuck. I actually have two of these chucks, I planned to take apart the worst one first. It came with my First mill and it is way out of spec and stiff, a good candidate for a tear down. I actually bought another chuck for daily use on the mill. The other came with my...

    Disassembling a Rohm Chuck?

Quick question: Does a 1/2" Rohm plain bearing chuck come apart like a similar Jacobs? Said differently, does the outer collar (with the teeth the key engages) press off toward the nose of the chuck like a Jacobs? I've gotten around to opening the chuck that came with my mill to clean it and I...

Buying socket head cap screws online

Grainger are good if you are OK buying a package (50 - 100) etc. Often cheaper to buy a box even if you only need a few and better selection than retail. D

    Product Anchor Lube...

I like it also. A side benefit is that it doesn’t smoke so I don’t get the evil eye for the smell of hot cutting oil when I’m using it. Instructions on my bottle say cut with up to one part water, I guess that means 1:1. D

    BaitMaster’s (Work) Bench

+1 After a few experiences with my HSS blade I’ve had the same thoughts about plug and play carbides. That said I have recently had good success by grinding a nice negative rake/chip breaker, dressing it SHARP with an EZ-Lap and running as low as 32 RPM. This would be on my lightweight...

    dro and laptop

Yuriy (TouchDRO developer) has advice on his pages WRT precision and glass vs magnetic. In my case mine were a combination of regular and low profile glass with mag embedded in the cross slide on the lathe and a custom installation on the mill quill driven by space. WRT precision, when I was...

    dro and laptop

One more voice here, I have it on my lathe and mill and carry one tablet between basement & out building. I like the continuing feature development, the fact that we can interact with the developer and that it runs on non-proprietary hardware. D
