  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Tool and Cutter Grinder Cross Slide, $40, Eastern Passage, NS

LOL! It’s only a half hour drive but until a flash hits me saying I have a brilliant inspiration about how I might use it then the seller will have to continue to contemplate its place on their shelf. I already have 42^2 projects in the hopper. ;) D

Two standard Modern Lathes - $1300 - Lindsay, On

I wonder about the loading on the gear path not necessarily designed for the lower speed/possibly higher torque that would come from the ops that would use the spindle speed that would result. That and since the feed rates are tied to spindle to feed screw ratios you’d lose some of the lower...

Tool and Cutter Grinder Cross Slide, $40, Eastern Passage, NS

Once in a long while something turns up close to home, LOL! Not that I’d have a use for it. D

    Another Lathe...

In the lighter weight class a Myford is a good entry point. They’re UK made (watch out for clones) and parts are still available which you cannot say about a re-badged Chinese machine. Call King and ask about sourcing repair parts. The Myfords are well made/British craftsmanship and full...

    Disassembling a Rohm Chuck?

You and @whydontu are trying to put me in the poorhouse LOL! Already too many tools to play with and too many projects, how can I get anything finished? What I need is a friend with an US cleaner! D

    Disassembling a Rohm Chuck?

LOL! You underestimate Ms. Tecnico at your peril! We're planning a cross country trip when she hangs it up and you might have to explain the logic to her in person if we drop in on the way by. ;) You know I've thought a few times about an US cleaner, including when I was dip tanking all 4...

    Disassembling a Rohm Chuck?

LOL! The worst would become a #2 for the mill. It came with it and I suspect it's 1987 vintage like the mill. It has all those years of accumulated patina & dried cutting oil in it (as did the whole mill) so I expect it would need a long soak in something rather nasty to soften up all those...

    Disassembling a Rohm Chuck?

UPDATE: Might as well put this here for anyone who has the same idea in the future...... Spoiler: @ChazzC gets the prize for the answer closest to correct. I got in contact with Rohm (handed off to NA Service....) to ask how they came apart, their initial reply was they don't offer service on...

SMOKING DEAL!! Solvable Low odour Paint Thinner

If I recall I bought their low odour varsol at Home Hardware so that might be an option too. When I order from Grainger they set up a temporary “account” just for the order, it goes away when the order is complete. That way there’s no need to do the overhead for a permanent account like...
