    Plasma cutter for under $300!!

This is my plasma cutting setup. You guys like pictures well here’s a ton. Here it is being rolled out from under my vise and hydraulic press bench. The plywood helps keep crap out of the tank. This is a view of the back. The 4 swivel wheels are small to reduce the overall height. Once rolled...

    Plasma cutter for under $300!!

Here's the post I couldn't find -- plasma water table post 66 at the end. I'll get some better pics later today https://canadianhobbymetalworkers.com/threads/planning-a-manufacturing-class-for-coworkers.4943/

    Plasma cutter for under $300!!

Totally not needed for what i do. The Hypertherm std torch and cable/leads are plenty robust for my purposes. It still looks almost new. Why add extra weight?

    Plasma cutter for under $300!!

I posted a pic of my hydraulic press and the plasma water table quite awhile ago. Here’s a pic and description - see post # 68 https://canadianhobbymetalworkers.com/threads/what-air-compressor-cfm-and-reservoir-size-needed-to-run-a-50-amp-plasma-cutter.6753/#post-100492 Ooops sorry- the...

    Plasma cutter for under $300!!

IMO - not needed for casual user or DYIer. Just need to be a bit careful with setup and plan ahead. Don’t be in a rush. Mine has no cover and that is not at all on my need or want list. Not the same for: a big project; a busy shop; or multiple users. I do all my cutting on top of a 2’ diameter...

Tools you waited too long to acquire

The automatic wire strippers (that I referred to above) arrived a few days early - well done Amazon! I told the OWMBO that I got 3 pair because it was a safety issue and that I NEEDED to confirm they were safe gifts for our son and son-in-law (no way she bought that for even a nano second)...

    Plasma cutter for under $300!!

I wouldn’t say that. Just check it over from one end to the other. You may have to change or fix this or that. Check as many connections as you can that are easy to get at (air and electrical). That’s a small price to pay if no red flags pop up and it turns out to work ok. You definitely won’t...

Tools you waited too long to acquire

I get your point and appreciate your experience on this subject - but I will continue to use my nice new crimp tool - although now (thanks to your comments) I will be even more careful to do a thorough examination of each crimp to ensure it is as sound and effective as possible. I will also give...

    Plasma cutter for under $300!!

I have total confidence in all electrical components of my $3000+ Hypertherm plasma cutter but I do not think a $300- cutter offers that level of fire safety. Unplug it when not in use.
