The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. CA-ON Decent Drill Bits?

Years ago we had a Canadian Tire set at work, that a manager picked up on sale. Sheet metal box, with multiples of everything. Except… they were junk. Bits sharpened backwards. Bits with the point split so far they had a little gouge where the point should be. I had one bit seize in a hole and...

    80t Hyd Press - $3500 - Toronto, On

There’s a lot to like, there. Small footprint, plenty of tonnage. It looks like there’s a switch on the left side for depth, with a sort of ‘bead’ to activate it. I think I’d miss the micrometer adjustment on our press at work, but that’s a manageable thing. Oh, to have my own full-sized shop…

    80t Hyd Press - $3500 - Toronto, On

I have a coworker who has a ‘morning meeting’ every day. As in, ‘Where’s _____? He’s at his morning meeting.’

Blanchard / Surface grinding or just machining

More broadly, if anyone's looking for heavier steel cutting in the GTA, they're worth a call. Blanchard / Surface grinding or just machining

    Homemade cabbing machine from scrap.

We cut some glass tube at work with it, but I doubt it had seen use in the last twenty years before that, at least. I think the feed's meant to be the same. We rigged up a weight with some cord to run the tube through.

Vertical wet bath belt sander - $200 - port perry on

My next door neighbour runs a glass blowing studio. Consequentially, my furnace doesn't work very hard. If anyone's looking to give it a try, Clayton's a great guy: https://turnstyleglass.com/ (If you come by you can ask me when my lathe's going to be up and running!) We have one of those...

    Homemade cabbing machine from scrap.

If anyone’s interested, I have a cabbing station and a slab saw looking for a good home. (Edit: Taken!) Came out of a friend’s Dad’s shed. Don’t know anything about them, just couldn’t leave them at the curb for scrap metal.
