    Lathe carriage travel measuring

@John Conroy. That's a great idea! I've been looking at DRO kits and I started to wince...then I factored exchange and decided to pause on the idea for a bit. I think this would definitely get me started.

Wanted - TPGB or TCMT inserts

Hi Geoff, I'd like to help you out, but you might have to assist me with the identity of such an item. I have a thread over in the Kijiji Hauls section about a machinist tool box I found on NYE. It came with three drawers of inserts, and to be honest, I'm not there yet! Haha. Have a look as I...

    New Years Eve Haul

Thanks for setting this up! I'd have posted sooner but work had me on the road again for a couple of weeks. Well, what can I say... I guess for those of us who've already arrived there in life, making Kijiji deals on NYE might be kind of cool, the rest of those who are wondering why I wasn't...

    Hi Guys

Welcome aboard Louis! I haven't been here long, and I'm completely new to machining, but I've learned a lot here so far, great group of guys. Have fun!

    Rockwell 11" Lathe

Hey Eric, not sure what your lathe weights, but I did use a Canadian Tire ATV jack to scoot mine across the garage on its present stand. I believe mine lists at 800lbs. I only lifted it a half inch and it made the journey fine, slow and easy. You might find one cheaper on Kijiji than a pallet...

    Rockwell 11" Lathe

It's funny you mention the insert acronyms, I had a "Kijiji Haul" as referenced by @Jwest7788 in another thread, I literally ended up with handfuls, so that leads to more reading and well exactly as you indicated, it gets deep quick. Speaking of which, would a "Kijiji Hauls" sticky be of any...

    Rockwell 11" Lathe

Hahah! Classic find. Nice work Eric. I ran my lathe a bit over Christmas and I'm going to build a new stand. Since I still remain inspired by your tear down, I figure I might as well build it back on a new stand. Now of course I'm dazzled by VFD research and the ease of a DRO and QCTP. Ahh the...

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

@Janger @Kris Jensen Guys, Thanks for doing this. So far I haven't had a need for found stock, but it's coming soon. Even if they were able to make a small pile of some 2"- 12" pipe cut offs, some plate scraps, and perhaps some short I beam scraps I'd be happy. I know it's not what everyone...

    T Bolts

Thanks Kylemp, that is pretty much where I think I'm at with options. It's not the end of the world for sure, and I will get it resolved and functional. If any of you happen to be around your lathe with an MT#2, I'd be curious to know what the length of the arbor is on some of your tapers minus...
