    Hello and welding question

There’s a better example of a MiG weld. That’s just using Lincoln’s auto set feature on the Powermig 211i…. Set for 1/8” with my parameters. Easy. Peazy. Lemon squeezey. Turn on power, turn on gas, set metal thickness and parameters…. Boom. Very passable weld for an amateur.

The trade name in electrical for a Kellum grip is indeed a horse cock. It is commonly recognized and ANY electrician trained in Canada won’t even blink, and will just ask you what size you need. The trade name for an electric motor termination box is a peckerhead as well. Incase any of the...

    Hello and welding question

TIG steel, TIG aluminum, then mig steel. Disclaimer: my aluminum one was with no pre cleaning of the metal or filler. And I am 100% a self taught garage amateur. TIG is great for certain things. So is stick. Mig is the best for “general purpose” steel and is lightning fast. At least don’t not...

1/2 tube bender, $150, Lethbridge, AB

imperials suck. Swagelok is king. Swageloks use ROLLERS instead of sliding metal on metal and marring the tube. Imperials are made out of garbage pot metal and break when you really need them in the field. Swageloks are made out of solid bar stock and machined and forged for the mechanical...

    Hello and welding question

I have a Canaweld TIG201 AC/DC machine, and it is a good machine that will weld anything. The machine will do TIG and Stick to 200a. I’ve owned it for about 5 years with no issues. TIG is more difficult to learn, but you can weld any material there is, and the welds look fantastic. I also have...

    BaitMaster’s (Work) Bench

I’m definately careful about running things with her in there. Usually if I do, my wife is in there as well, watching her watch me work. The cover is just an extra layer of protection. I want to strike a balance between my kids seeing what I do, and keeping them safe. I think it’s important...

    BaitMaster’s (Work) Bench

@historicalarms and @Susquatch I have a 2.5 year old daughter…… The cover off wouldn’t be a hazard for ME. If I was an empty nester with no kids, I would happily leave the cover off and not worry about it. Kids like to touch things, I don’t want them to touch the wrong things. My friends have...
