Calgary & area meet up Spring 2025.

Hoping you guys do it later then last year. The whole bear hunting thing always puts a huge damper on anything in the spring until the end of may. I would try to make it if it was in early June. Earlier then that, I’m swamped.

    CA-ON Multi-conductor wire

Digikey is one of the best companies out there to deal with. The amount of crap I’ve fixed by ordering parts from them would make any guys knees weak. Like fixing million dollar machines with a 10 cent part and 8$ of shipping, but a whole bunch of times over and over for years. I love them...

Binns and berry 18x60 lathe, $2500, Arborfield, SK

It’s not the knowledge I’m worried about @JustaDB, it’s the fact it would cost triple as much as the mill to be able to run it.

Binns and berry 18x60 lathe, $2500, Arborfield, SK

The one I bought though is in mint…. Almost new, can even buy parts for it….. will do very precise work. This old one looks decent, and is tempting to do bigger work. The old mill though, the big one…. 10hp@480 is a lot of electrical retrofitting and a lot of motor to run on the 30a single...

    Product Canadian VFD Supplier

The only inexpensive options really are the Amazon / Ali variety. The “Huangyang” ones are the ones that from what I’ve seen are the best of the Chinese. These are NOT CSA rated devices and cannot be installed legally and permitted/inspected by licenced electricians. Automation direct is next...

    Shake my head sometimes

i try to be neighbourly with that stuff. I have opened packages by accident though. Completely innocently. People (farmers/hutterites) use our (small town electrical shop) business as an address in town to ship Amazon packages to. So it said business name obviously and I tore into one and it...

    Milling machine, $2800, Sundre, AB

10hp is a significant amount of power for a garage or home shop machinist, FYI. Even with a drive, that’s a lotta ampskis.

    SWAGELOK Tube Benders

They are not light, or cheaply made….. not good to take on an ultralight hike that’s for sure. Try bending with it. The amount of force required for half inch, especially if you do 0.049 or 0.065 wall tubing, is drastically lower because of the rollers…. No marring/scratching or crushing...
