  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Repairing BOSCH B20CS30SNS/01 fridge

I have a 2.5 y.o. Bosch fridge - expensive ($4200) and a lovely thing when it works which is does..mostly. A couple of times, it has 'lost its mind' and stopped cooling ... it seemed to recover with a power down a.k.a. 'reboot'. but how can we be confident about a refrigerator like that? Delays...

Tool Surface plate height gauge recommendations

I have one of those iGaging models, and "I beg to differ"......without the 'knob' it's extremely difficult for me to set an accurate height (when using the gauge for layout and marking). The kbc versions seem to also not have an adjusting knob. All calipers have knobs, why omit them on the...

    Elmers Engines

The originals are too small for me, and the deWaals are too big (and expensive for metals). About 150% of the Elmer size is about right for me, as a beginner. And metric fasteners and tooling are a lot more readily available, cheaply - another reason I don't care for the original plans.

    Elmers Engines

Thanks, @Dabbler . I've learned to be greedy and download things as I find them (or helpful people find them for me), in case they disappear from the web.

    Elmers Engines

You must have most of the plans already! Nice collection of engines! Is there any particular plan you are looking for? You've probably found (and downloaded) the deWaal metric (larger version) plans of the Elmer Verberg engines?

Horizontal mill, Super 7, Douglas Shaper

Exactly - it's interesting that some sellers seem to think 'a package deal' is more attractive than separate items. I think it's often a case of : "I can't be bothered (or I don't have the knowledge) to separate the machines and the accessories that belong to each one, so just give me a big pile...

9" standard modern utilathe nose spindle thread orientation.

If the bull gear can be easily accessed, something like this can work: I made something similar for my lathe in a few minutes with 'QuikWood epoxy putty and a piece of plywood for a handle. The good part is that it will break before the gear will. A good strap wrench (is there such a thing...

YES, please! :) Like many folks, I really enjoy helping to spend other folks money! :)

Thanks, John. I'm light-years away from your level. After multiple (totally unenjoyable) attempts in the past, I'm FIRMLY in the "Tried LINUX several times; didn't like it" camp, thus disqualifying me from conversations like this. I manage to install OS X in a Mac - that's about it. Anyway, I...
