Strange Carbide Insert Internal Threading Tool Geometry

I have similar internal holders and they have the same angle on the insert as yours. I haven't used them yet, but I have used the external threading insert toolholder with good results. It holds the insert at an angle -'canted' down - in a similar way. I follow the advice that @John Conroy gives...

Victoria BC Logan 200 (modified) Lathe $1000

@Degen - I've read a lot of your posts here; I find it hard to believe that your Logan was in similar condition to the one in the ad! :) But, yes the price isn't too bad unless there is a hidden problem. I don't like the uncovered belts and pulleys. MIssing change gears? would be a deficit, but...

Victoria BC Logan 200 (modified) Lathe $1000

If it was a Model 200 ( I think I see that on the nameplate) it didn't have a gearbox, originally. But I did spot those two bolts on the base. Doesn't a gearbox use a different leadscrew? That machine has definitely seen some changes, from the looks of things.

Victoria BC Logan 200 (modified) Lathe $1000

https://www.usedvictoria.com/stationary-tools/39838943 Price seems a bit high IMO considering the condition shown, but might be worth a look and an offer if you are looking for a 10x24 lathe. Nameplate says Model 200, but it seems to have been modified to eliminate the back motor support leg...

    Affordable Shim Stock

I was going to recommend the $50 pack of brass shim stock I bought from amazon 6 months ago, even though it seemd very expensive to me. But when I looked yesterday, it's now over $100. so either brass prices are escalating more than ever, or the amazon pricing bot is at work. Fuggetaboutit. :)...

    Unknown Lathe (SB?) $400 Vancouver

It looks a lot like my Logan 210. (Mine was never so badly treated, AFAIK :) ). Is the cross feed button hiding behind the handwheel? That doesn't look like the original chuck, which may be a good thing. Mine has a new chuck; the original 3-jaw was much 'thinner' with the threaded portion...

What inserts do you like and why?

It would be interesting to see a head-to-head test between these KBC Korloy inserts and the same (?) "Korloy" inserts from AliExpress, since there's a 10x difference in price between the two. Thinking about the Gotteswinter statement about (modified) carbide inserts: it has been mentioned...
