  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year.     Awesome, thanks for the information! Looks like your Colchester is cleaning up nicely. One guy posted on another forum the inside bore taper at 0.060 per inch aprox. which is different than any MT. Now I have my DRO set up I can double check, run an inch in with a test indicator.

    Thanks for posting your progress, I have been following along. I have been setting up mine as well, just adding a DRO. Is there any chance you machine came with the headstock taper adapter? Seems like it’s a special Colchester one and would be amazing to have the dimensions to make one. Thanks!

    I too have watched large machines go for next to nothing at auction. The worst was when I was starting out (before smart phones) something would sell cheap, I wouldn’t know what it was and later find out I missed out big time. This lathe would be a total labour of love and skill to bring it back.

    Yes it is a “gasket” probably the clearances can be controlled that way. All the rebuild kits have replacements

    Hi Peter, Thanks for your help! I think the 0.001 thickness is important or the air bypasses the air veins over the top and bottom. I was doing so poking around and found McMaster Carr has something that thin available and I will be in the States next week. I like your method for cutting out...
