External Jaws for a 3 jaw

Last weekend I picked up a 10” 3 solid jaw Cushman that fits my Colchester with the L1. Of course no external jaws with it. There is a set on fleebay which would work out to $100 Canadian to my door. I know with a 10” they won’t get used much and I do have a big 4 jaw. Convince me one way or...

    What a steal

It seems like most old lathes get listed at 2 grand and slowly drop till they find a buyer.

This Mitutoyo lathe comes with two tail stocks, but....no head stock ;)

You have to wrap a rope around your stock and use it like a pole lathe.

Bridgeport head, St Catharines auction closing tonight, Currently $5

Hi Craig, It’s a light weight M head, fairly rare higher speed head but they are around. The bearings cost a small fortune to replace, but without a close inspection who knows the overall condition regardless of appearance.

Bridgeport head, St Catharines auction closing tonight, Currently $5

I pushed it up a bit I wanted both. I would have mounted it the light weight M head on my Harrison universal. I already have a vertical too but extra set up is always nice. But it’s a real crap shoot and no idea which taper is in there, could be Mt2 or B&S 7

    Ditron DRO Sale on Ali

I am not convinced any brands names are real on Aliexpress. I went with the cheaper option on my lathe recently and it seems absolutely fine. I think it’s on sale $220 + extras at the door right now.

    Machine Rollers

Martin, I know you can do all the planning but still little things can pop up. I have my big thickness planer on giant casters. Once in motion it wants to stay in motion…

    New to me colchester lathe

Looks like you are on top of the challenges. The wiring on my Triumph was completely stripped out and replaced with a 5hp single phase, I am thinking of going VFD as I don’t get the low or high speed like the two speed original, plus being able to overdrive in a bit for higher carbide speeds...

    Blast room

You need a 7.5 hp power 2 stage like I own to do decent blasting with the amount of air required. I have a large blast cabinet and vacuum system and the compressor just keeps up. Keep in mind you are fighting moisture as well, I have a refrigerant air dryer and pellets dryer just before the...
