    Drill chuck recommendation

I bought the same accusize chuck and arbor that SomeGuy posted above. Initial thoughts are that it looks decent. The feel is a bit gritty. Definitely does not feel as nice as the Taiwanese chuck I am replacing. I will have to open it up to clean and relube it which will likely help some...

    Drill chuck recommendation

Thanks everyone. I ordered the accusize chuck. I have gotten a couple of things from them in the past and have been happy with them so far. Tom - thank you for the generous offer. For now I will try the accusize one and see how it performs. Yes I could save a few bucks more by ordering direct...

    Drill chuck recommendation

When I got my mill this past winter a friend of mine who was retiring gave me some old tooling of his that was in excess after setting up his own home shop for retirement. This included a Golden Goose ball bearing keyless chuck. Well I had a project that needed an accurately drilled hole for a...

    Getting started.

Personally, I consider auto bed levelling a must have upgrade. This can be added afterwards with BL touch, but consider that when comparing printers. If you buy a printer without ABL you will likely be adding it in the near future so for the price you may get a few additional upgrades going up a...

    New prusa xl

This looks like a terrific printer. But this is really a premium printer with expanded capability that comes at a premium price. It would not be my recommendation for someone new who just wants to learn on. I think you would do better starting off with a more basic ~$500 printer, something like...

36X24 'surface plate' -- Peterborough, ON

Well, coincidentally I do. Machining is just a hobby for me that I have just started. My career is in Cameras and I have an autocollimator in my lab that I have not used in a while. It was used to look at lens barrel tilt in an autofocus actuator. I could easily borrow this, and then would just...

36X24 'surface plate' -- Peterborough, ON

I have a used surface plate of unknown flatness that I would love to get reconditioned so that I have more confidence in it. I have looked into doing it myself and while the process seems straight forward, it seems to require some expensive equipment that just isn't worth it for a one off job...

    Arduino questions

I started to worry as I began reading this. Glad this went in a positive direction. Glad to see this worked out for you. It is usually good to spend the time to learn the correct methods for these simple programs so that you can apply them on more complicated things later. Otherwise trying to...

    Dc motor brush sparking

Just because you mentioned them being generic brushes. Is there any chance the spring tension on the brush is insufficient to keep good contact?

    Arduino questions

This can work, but maybe not the ideal method. Two things that stick out to me that might not be a problem right now as your program is small and simple, but could become an issue later as it grows. As I mentioned, not using interrupts you are waiting for your program to decide to check if a...
