    Tool Starrett 10th Indicator

You can buy replacement plunger tips from aliexpress or KBC tools or Long Island indicator, ebay, among others. Just be sure that you've got the threads right. Some use 4-48 (I believe that's the right one for Starrett) and others use a metric M2.5 thread...

    Tool Starrett 10th Indicator

Huh, that's good to know. I got given a Starret digital plunger-type indicator, but it's got a missing battery tray and I don't even know what else might be busted. I was kind of humming and hawing about what to do about it or whether it was even worth trying to get it repaired.

    Shop Stand for PM-25 clone

At 1.58" dia, those wheels strike me as kinda small. I guess it depends on how flat & smooth the flooring is where you're putting the mill. In my concrete-floored garage, I've used these workbench type 2 3/8" casters for heavy tables. I wouldn't really want to go smaller but I know people here...

    Tool Your First Power Tool?

Us Carleton Industrial Design grads used to refer to our degree as a Bachelor of Sanding due to all the painstainking sanding of basswood models that was required. Maybe they still do, I have no idea -- but in my mind it's all software and 3d printing nowadays and those kids don't know how good...

    Lathe headstock oil question

Canadian Tire is a 40 minute drive to the next town over for me, but I get what you're sayin' ;) About the 5L ISO 68, do you mean in general, or currently at your store? Because clearly they sell it, or sold it at some point...

    MT3 vs R8 spindle taper

I've had RF30 clones with MT3 and R8 tapers. My current mill has an r8 taper, even if my lathe has an MT3 tailstock. There wasn't a lot of tool overlap with the lathe when I had the milldrill with an MT3 taper as most of my lathe tools already had a tang instead of threads for a drawbar. Like...

    Arbor press $200

FWIW, arbor presses are currently on sale at KMS tools. Seems like a damn good price to me. $280 for a 3 ton, and $170 for a 2 ton https://www.kmstools.com/metalworking-tools/arbor-presses.html

    Lathe headstock oil question

Hey, thanks for these recommendations! Not sure I'll ever need 5 gallons of the stuff, but with that lead, I managed to find it in 5L quantities in-stock at my local store. Should be perfect...

    Lathe headstock oil question

Mine's an older Willis (US rebadger of import lathes) 13x40. Essentially a Dashin Prince.
