  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. CA-BC Looking for 2x 4' lengths of rail road track

Back in the 1980's I worked at a foundry and track was their main feed stock. They would torch them half way and then drop them from 20 feet with a mag crane snapped at each cut line about 2 foot long pieces. And to think I could have gotten as much as I wanted for nothing.

    Tips/Techniques CBN Inserts

I bought one from Aliexpress last year around $15.00. Pricy but it worked great on an induction hardened hydraulic rod to get under the hardened layer. I then switched to a standard carbide insert. These inserts don't like interrupted cuts so be careful, also they work better at high feeds and...

The ultimate machinist tool box combo (beach upper/lower) in Bowmanville, on

Gerstner is a nice looking machinists box but I don't think they'd would take a pounding in a service truck like my beach did.

    Is this safe?

As long as you go slow it could work. I think a better option would to lay it down and use a end mill on the side. Conventional mill would work, for a better finish, climb mill. Second option would be to add 2 thick tall plates to sandwich the piece in the vise basically extending the vise...

    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

I used type L coper for all of my lines and used regular solder. I found out later I should have silver solded the joints. It's been over 30 years and have never had a problem. Maybe just luck. The system runs at a max of 125 psi. When I installed my mill I used 1/2" PEX to feed the power draw...
