What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

I hear you, but it sounds too much like replacing a relatively normal and common (although costly) air compressor with an exotic, small one that will have to work much harder and costs almost as much as the big, more standard one. Plus, I am not keen on leaving an air compressor working hard...

What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

Yes, I suppose I can ask them how it could work and at what actual cost. Jim G

What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

This is very interesting! For hobby use, a leasing cost of $100/12 = $8.50 per month is very acceptable. Heck, that's not very much more than the costs of oil changes and air filter changes on an air compressor, right, especially one operated in a woodworking shop where sawdust in the air is...

What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

I found that Air Liquide charges $121 plus tax for that 230 cu ft cylinder refill, so about $127 in Alberta. That assumes you own a cylinder. If not, you need to buy one. Looking at the cost to buy a welding gas cylinder, I THINK a 230 cy ft air cylinder would cost less than a noisy compressor...

What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

Yes, I predicted the outcome right from the start of the video. The combination of cost and time to reduce the sound level at consumer level is impractical. Plus, he did not mention it, but all the restrictions he added on inatke and exhaust to silence the noise also made it much harder for the...

What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

In addition to what you noted, the size of the shop that a compressor is located within makes a bIG difference to how bothersome and tiring its noise level is. My entire shop is a rear detached garage of under 400 sq ft. My small pancake compressor sounds like a war zone within it. I had been...

What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

Yeah, the noise level is important to me, but unless I can spend a lot more money than I want to, and can really afford to on what is a hobby, not a job, it does not look like i can get a compressor that has the output, the longer life, AND the low noise level ALL in one package. The compressors...

What air compressor CFM and reservoir size needed to run a 50 amp plasma cutter

My benchtops all have shelving underneath them, and in one 10 foot bench, ON TOP of them as well! No "under bench" room, available, which is why the uprights look better to me than the horizontal tank compressors! But that $600 horizontal one at Princess Auto has a lot of other pluses going for...

Are 1/4" fittings different for welding gas cylinders than for air lines?

Circular saws have always struck me as a bit dangerous compared to miter saws. Can I assume that the same blade types that work in a circular saw to cut aluminum or steel will also work in a miter saw? If so, what blade type do I specifically look for for: (a) steel? (b) aluminum? (c) stainless...
