Tool Tooling up a milling machine

Interesting concept with 2 readouts. Our Vevor DRO’s came with the 3 scales, will do bolt circle calculations, center finding using 2 edges, imperial or metric measurements, absolute/incremental, where to drill holes for a radius, preprogrammed tool diameters, and a built in calculator that...

Tool Tooling up a milling machine

A friend recently informed me we were both buying a Vevor 3 axis DRO for our mills. US$200, free shipping anywhere in the US. We both have X and Y scales installed (Z to come soon) and we are both impressed with the quality/function of the system.

    Sharpening Drills.....

Wow, hard core!! I moved to a new province into Grade 12, with a huge difference in the curriculum. Totally lost in French class so I switched from that to Shop class — changed my life hugely. I spent a couple of years saving up to go to SAIT in Calgary for auto mechanics, and thoroughly...

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

I hauled a couple of loads of scrap aluminum and steel to the local metal recycling/auto wrecker and when I saw lots of other metal there that could be used for projects, I asked if they sold any metal. They assured me they set aside some “good” metal for resale but I didn’t have a look at that...

WTB: looking for a vertical head for a Victoria / Elliott universal mill (U0)

Just to be clear, I’d like to be second in line after Arknoid if he doesn’t buy it (and I could afford it :-). Or if someone else stumbles onto one. Cheers, al

Finally got tired of swaping the tailstock wrench

Agreed Kelly, non-standard for sure. I saw this idea on a University of youTube course one day so thought I'd invest $5 on some genuine Chinese thrust bearings. The screw needed to be cleaned and relubed anyway so I thought it was a good time to give this a try. I can always take it off if...

Finally got tired of swaping the tailstock wrench

I tried installing a thrust bearing on the front of my Record vise. Seems to work fine but I’m not sure if helped hugely, although in theory it should. A bit of a pain getting the vise apart and back together — not quite as simple as I originally thought :-).

Thanks, good guess Robin the Hood. Same wing, engine and prop as a Pitts S2A but it's a homebuilt called a Christen Eagle II. Wider fuselage and much roomier cockpit. Yes on the registration..... I spent hours looking through the TC website and couldn't believe I found this one. Possibly the...
