    Sharpening Drills.....

I learned to sharpen drill bits by hand and was fairly happy with how well they drilled holes, until I put those bits in the tail stock of my lathe. Invariably the cutting was done a lot more with 1 cutting edge than both. I use a drill gauge to check angles and lip lengths but I guess that is...

I was an auto mechanic in my previous life so lots of hand tools for that, and complimented by far too many good deals at garage sales. Starting off was a SB 10k lathe, then a used Busy...

    Favourite Youtube Channels

To me BLONDIHACKS is a must. Nice, thorough presentations, very knowledgeable and she addresses any mistakes she makes (as we all do) rather than trying to hide them or do a reshoot. Can’t watch anything she does without learning. And she’s a Canadian to boot.

Brown&Sharp No2 surface grinder any good?

I have a B&S #2 that I got at an auction for $400. Once home I found it needed new spindle bearings, which are precision ball bearings — a friend of a friend managed a bearing shop in Calgary and I got them at his cost of $500. Ouch! Interesting, the bearings came with greasing instructions… no...
