    .004" TIR is easy to deal with. Loosen the bolts that hold the chuck to the back plate, move the chuck until it runs true, tighten bolts. If the chuck is too tight on the backplate shoulder to come true, machine the the diameter of the shoulder down a couple thousand until you can move the chuck...

    They work well for their intended purpose. The downside is cost, they are very expensive and have a small diameter range, therefore you need to have many different ones to cover a wide range of hole sizes. If you are doing production jobs where you are measuring one hole size all day the cost...

    The ability to hold larger dimensional pieces is true, however, on smaller mills the larger vise limits the y travel as the front of the vise makes contact with the column. It also hangs far over the table on the handle end, blocking the dials and making the hand wheels difficult to use.

    I bought some items from a older gentleman in Waterloo that was down sizing. He has a Jackson No2 vertical mill that he was considering selling. Looking at some photos, that style of mill may be a candidate.

    Locked Cabinets At Canadian Tire

    Our local CT is the same, most tools are locked and staff is difficult to find. If I need anything, I find it easier to order online for pickup. Don't have to deal with staff, just pull up, pick up then go home.
