Welcome from Lillooet BC. I agree with the above, a few grooves should be ok, but you will want to clean up the raised areas next to the grooves.

Well, being as you don't plan on having to stand in front of it, you could mount it so that it never needs cleaning..... Hang it from the ceiling and put a bucket under it. :p

I tried that approach and found that it really smarts, hence the rapid switch to steel toes. :p
