    Cincinnati hydrashift in red deer

You could probably buy a 5hp single phase motor and Re/Re the motor for comparable price. Could reduce the motor size too but of course then you can't run at full capacity meaning lighter cuts. Quite frankly if this was near me I'd be all over it. There is a hydrashift for sale in Toronto 2 hrs...

    Cincinnati hydrashift in red deer

Personally, I use the 16" VDF at work more than I ever use the 12"busy bee. I find it way handier. I once trued up a warped bandsaw wheel in it, that was a cool job

I would still love this lathe though. Too bad its half way across Canada for me.

    Springfield Ideal for $500

Unfortunately my signature states one of my character flaws or strengths depending on your perspective; I see a machine like this and I see the potential in it and the potential to learn from the process of repairing it. I need to put that aside and really examine the practical expectations of...

    Springfield Ideal for $500

I think for most repair work it will be adequate. Mostly turning shafts for press fits I'm sure it will be fine. If it ends up in my garage I would lightly refurbish it and put it to use. If it does come with me I will let everyone know, thanks for the helpful advice.

    Springfield Ideal for $500

Did not measure spindle bearings, albeit old babbitt, that's not a hard repair, I forgot to mention on of the cast feet is broke and a wood block is holding it up Minor repair though. 4 jaw is definitely from this lathe and shows little use just hefty.
