    The shoulder on these only goes down to 3mm length. I could take that and attempt to tap the thread further then cut the thread to length. Wonder how that’d do.

    This is a good point. As long as it’s m2 thread I could file down the head or cut the thread to length with hand tools… it’s really the shoulder that complicates it.

    Yes that needs to mate. Essentially it mounts a slider for the zoom that rotates as it slides. The thread goes into the body and the slider (plastic slider with metal washer, lubricated) is stabilized by the shoulder. These screenshots are from disassembly of the same lens from a youtube...

    Haha! I’ve been using various forms of CAD since the 90s so I actually find this easier than drawing it on paper (because my drawing skills are terrible so it would be both unrecognizable and unreadable)
