South Bend 10K Horizontal Drive Bushings Replacement

What a coincidence! Right now I’m putting aside making a tool to use on a tool in order to design another tool to work on a tool! Does that make me a tool too? The sage one has inquired in the past whether I use my tools to make things other than tools…..but this time last week...

CA-AB It pays to shop around.

For some things I’ve found them expensive but they’re my go to for fasteners that aren’t hardware store off the shelf and a few other odd tools or supplies like ear plugs. For fasteners they usually beat McMaster for less common things and we won’t talk about other fastener suppliers. Easy to...

CA-AB It pays to shop around.

    Whelp, there goes the neighborhood.

East peasy! Just write down the options, pin them up on the lucky decision maker behind the drill press and have your better half throw the dart! Takes all the effort out of the decision. ;) Bonus, you get to spend some quality time in the shop with your better half. D

A new low for us, one! And I had to drag them over from the neighbour across the street. Good kid though, he really didn’t want to take the second coffee crisp because someone might go without. Told his mom that she was raising him well! There’s still some hope. D

Modern 9x49 mill, $1000, Belchin, ON

In my thread quoted above, post 32, there are a couple of photos. Basically I bolted a steering arm on the caster using the axle bolt and tied both casters together on a pitman arm using toe links. Not having to herd swiveling casters makes a huge difference in shuffling heavy things around...

Modern 9x49 mill, $1000, Belchin, ON

Congrats on your scoop, looks like you did very well for yourself! You are 100% correct, a dolly/carriage is a handy tool to have around the shop! I don’t know if you’ve noticed the thread where I talked about picking up my First mill, it’s called “Tecnico’s First Mill” (I’d link it but I’m...

    PEX hangers

Ok that makes sense. Anywhere I had to turn a corner I used a fitting but all my corners were 90 deg. I’d be careful about bending around edges on things like the U clamps where they might dig in and cause a stress concentration or violate the min bend rad spec. I replaced the nails with...
