    I bought a gallon of Vactra 2 once through MMC and it cost an arm and leg. When I needed more I found that Petro Canada sold "way oil" in a 5 gallon pail for the same price as that one gallon Vactra! And the Perto-Can stuff is better IMO. The stuff is gooey thick and clings to the ways like crazy.

    Clamping a 4jaw Chuck on a Rotary Table

    This is what I did using a 3 jaw chuck, it's still able to be located into zero much like a 4 jaw only the whole apparatus moves. I also have a four jaw chuck mounted to my 6" rotab like one in PeterT's post.

    Drop the carbide tool set. It's a waste of money. You might someday use one or two of them. The rest will grow dust deep enough to grow potatoes in them. Buy individual tools as you need them. Agreed on the carbide set, in fact I'd take it one step farther and ditch the carbide all together...

    Most collets are flexible enough to expand to accommodate oversized stock, especially the bigger the hole size where there is less meat around the circumference. You won't damage the collet so long as the stock isn't grossly oversized, requiring something loke a hammer to get it in :p
