    Deal or not a deal?

I have an Osborn which is essentially same as Clarkson. Love it. Like any T&C grinder, spindle condition and tooling makes the machine. You’ll need centers, work heads, other fixtures and many different types of blade cutter rests. If this is a bare machine it’s price is a little optimistic...

Dah Lih Mill (1980's Taiwan), $7500 -- Mission, BC

Got shown a version of this mill late 1990’s maybe early 2000’s that didn’t have a gib or locking clamps on vertical axis. Got told by salesman it was so accurately machined this wasn’t needed. Hmmm. Didn’t buy. Hopefully the machine being sold here has a vertical way gib.

biax IV/EB power scraper, new tecumseth ON

On the green Biax 7’s (probably black as well?) the motor is common to several other tools. Heavy bits in front of motor may well be expensive and small manufacturing runs, but motor? Doubt if it was over $20 to make. And thank goodness other tools used same motor. Cheaper tools to raid for...

biax IV/EB power scraper, new tecumseth ON

New black ones are over (gasp) $4000 C. Untooled. Green ones, some parts are available, most if willing to do a little leg work and get a Metabo jigsaw for parts. Got to say, there’s plenty of green ones, imho, so that’s a high price for a blue. Personally I wouldn’t buy a blue, just took much...

    Show us your shops!

Yeah, quite the topic wander (sorry), but that may have something to do with poor education of women, esp in the north of India, and lack of contraception leading to huge numbers of kids/Mom. On the other hand, seeing machine shops in India is quite the education on what can be done with...

    Show us your shops!

If you really want to be shocked, try India. Code? What code. Geysers on 240v without gfi etc? Sure why not…

Sasquatch, do you have a link to the summary of code changes and rationale you mentioned?

    Show us your shops!

I prefer to look at data. I tend to agree that some updates are merely money grabs, but arc fault breakers for bedroom circuits (maybe more) are not one of them. At least in my non electrician opinion. Maybe take a look see at this link...

    Not fair - possibly scam

Yup. A post was left, but apparently I’m still grumbling. Should have forgotten by now as it didn’t happen in 2024… Was a really nice 12” jointer too.

    Not fair - possibly scam

I only get a little miffed if someone sells something I’d agreed to buy before I get there. What really gets my goat is when I bring cash, offer the amount the seller had asked for and he refuses. Then he re-lists for a higher price. Yes, Mr Big man selling a Poitras jointer in Wpg, I still...
