International Day of the Drill Grinder?

One province and about 24 hrs driving, unless the Alberta clipper arrives tonight, west of you. Unfortunately don’t have the time to take my Osborn apart to get measurements right now. I’ve seen a few Clarksons, but I’ve never used one of their drill pointers, so not sure I’m much help. I’ll...

International Day of the Drill Grinder?

Pilling on a little to the theme of the day, but it is made in Canada ;-) May I present the Osborn (shameless copy) version of the Clarkson drill grinding attachment. Beefier and fun to use. Need to make a method better than offhand grinding bigger mt tapered drills on a belt grinder. Mostly...

Barrel Lathe used for Gunsmithing, $3500, Rocky Mountain House, AB

Sheldon, I’m with 140Mower on this. Suggest keeping the Mysore Kirloskar. It’s a good lathe and the pics you showed suggest this one is well looked after. My only quibbles are, as mentioned, it’s too low for comfort- easily rectified by mounting on blocks, and second iirc, the spindle is L00-...

Got to say, in 40 years of frequenting used book stores in Toronto, Wpg and Vancouver, I’ve never seen a back issue of Model Engineer magazine for sale. Plenty, years ago in the UK. Perhaps wrong time wrong place. Unfortunately from what I’ve seen, ebay is mostly a wasteland with only individual...

Let's undertake yet another project - Jackson No. 2 Vertical Milling Machine

That looks like a useful, nicely proportioned mill. Also perfectly sized for a scraping/rebuild project if needed/desired.

Barrel Lathe used for Gunsmithing, $3500, Rocky Mountain House, AB

Looks like a Mysore Kirloskar lathe from the mid to late 1970’s. Other than being built for people only 5 foot tall it’s not a bad lathe. Imported by Luke’s Machinery in western Canada and probably others, made in Southern India.
