    Tool Identifying this dial indicator

Thanks for this thread. Kinda wondered why a mentor from years ago had all Federal indicators, some of which I bought from his estate sale. Being an NDT expert in the RCAF, and later in private work for airlines around the world may have influenced his purchasing or where he got equipment second...

    0.035 Outershield/dualshield worth it?

I’m not a professional welder so please forgive if this is basic. My welder hasn’t the cojones to drive more than 0.035” Outershied. Understand 0.045 and thicker dual shield is the bees knees for structural, but for lighter work, is 0.035 Outershield that much better at penetration than regular...

Lista bench $550 - Richmond hill, On

It’s still on FB with guy’s phone number. If it was in Wpg it wouldn’t be for sale still… On edit- ooops, Dan types quicker than me.

    Kinda cool?? Anyone have one?

I know some Volstro’s (maybe all?) use an ‘E’ collet, not an ‘ER’. A little fact to know in case buying one without collets.

    Ex-cell-o grinder, $200, Ayr, ON

Surprised it’s 120 volt. Too bad if it is as it would a great candidate for a vfd to slow it down for hand scraper lapping etc. and still have normal speed for other work. Even at 120 volts, if local, I’d buy it!

Deckel Jig Grinder / Boring machine

I’ve got an LK. Amazing machine, in its day. Still good for a guy like me who would get a Moore for jig boring if I didn’t already have the LK. The jig boring head is fun to use, but delicate and easily worn. This one has the second generation frequency controller for the high speed grinding...

Tool Room Lathe - $4,995, Delta, BC

Bah. Skip the RollsRoyce and spend the cash you save on an actual toolroom lathe, not a flimsy Chinese pretend machine. (Kind of obvious I drive a nine year old slightly rusty cheap SUV?)

International Day of the Drill Grinder?

I see from another thread you are getting the info you need from a Clarkson owner. This is fantastic- now no worries about differences in the stuff above the base Clarkson vs Osborn.

2" thick welding table $750 - Sunderland, On

Nice looking press! Not sure I’d want a steel welding table. Yeah, easy to tack a fixture on it temporarily, but the plate is usually not flat, dingles stick too easily, rusts worse than cast iron (at least in my area). Was lucky enough to get an old cast iron layout table from a friend’s shop...

    Tool Mcgyver's drill sharpener

Well, that was an interesting exercise post dinner. Just looked up translations of Pillar in most European languages and a few others. Knew some but not all. A stela though is an inscribed column. Pillar?
