Rebuilding a 10" Standard Modern Utilathe

I hauled out my crappy old Princess Auto portable band saw and removed 2/3rds of the cast iron, unfortunately the base is just bit too wide for the band saw so all the material in the center will have to be machined off. Because this tailstock is a donor from another lathe the wear pattern is...

Rebuilding a 10" Standard Modern Utilathe

I though about just using a roughing end mill but that will be a lot of chips, I might try the portable bandsaw to cut the first 3/4" off then do the rest on the mill.

    ER40 collet chuck on Amazon

This arrived a few days ago, the price is good and so is the quality, all the collets fit nicely. However, they send the wrong wrench so you have to grind about a 1/4" off of it the make it usable. Not a big deal, but the guy boxing it up must be able to see that it doesn't fit...

    I know Susquatch, I SUCK!

Before I go spending a bunch more cash on this I'm going to try some brass sleeves inside the end of every tube to see if that doesn't improve the seal.

    Vertex rotary table

I was cruising through kijiji the other day and found a milling machine that came with some extra tooling, I messaged the guy and asked him if he would be willing to sell the rotary table separately, yes was the answer so I went and p/u. Both sets of needle bearings had pretty much seized with...

    I know Susquatch, I SUCK!

I thought I would check the mail one more time before the holidays, goodies! Good thing I have a milling machine, I'll practice a bit before I attempt this.
