Standard Modern 15x54 lathe, $750, Georgina, ON

Ontario? It's still a western deal to me.

Tools you waited too long to acquire

Having worked for many years I seem to have developed a skill of grabbing sharp things just hard enough to not cut my skin. Started with working in a fiberglass laminating shop then aviation and a bit of side metal working. I have on occasion tried to pick up stuff that was sharper than expected...

Tools you waited too long to acquire

I'm one of the dumb ones. I grab the rats nests with my fingers then I use the vacuum.

Tonight was a perfect autumn evening, but bad for pics

Last nights aurora caught me totally by surprise. I had the wrong lens on the camera for it. I did a mad rush to change the lens then snap a few images. I took one out the front door to make sure I got something. Then did a few more of the house and barn with the aurora. Had I known it was...

How big of a monitor for Fusion 360?

I thought I would post an update to this. I ended up with a 27" 4k monitor. It works well but is not noticeably better than my 24" HD one. The 27" 4k monitor is far better for it's other main use which is photo editing.

I'll contact you when I'm ready to head home again in about 6 months. Thank you I didn't know where...

Did you watch the instructional video on how to use your calipers as a marking punch?

Tool Let's Get This Started - Tool Test Tuesday

It's mind blowing to me that they can sell something like this for $10. I wouldn't even push the start button on the lathe or unlock my toolbox for $10. I sort of consider about $50 to be the minimum profit on any item that I have to put into the mail.

    Looking for an insert

Although holders are available usually it's best to avoid negative rake tooling on small lathes. I'm sure others will disagree with me on that.
