    CNC for combo machines.

I have 2 acorns of my own and have installed one other on another persons CNC project. They work great. They are very reliable and stable. Going from memory the axis assignment is not arbitrary. You have to follow their system. I had an issue during setup and that was the cause. I can't remember...

    New Fusion Updates January 2024

I just downloaded the updates. I'll see what is new soon. The only thing that stood out on a quick look is there are some new ex$tensions in the tool bar. I took them off because they are really expensive. I need to figure out how to remove the extension category entirely from the tool bar, for...

    Auto-Retract Threading Tool

Very cool. It would certainly eliminate a stressful part of operating a lathe.

Do you have a mill and what kind is it?

Late to the game but I have a Novakon Torus Pro and a Hercus (V300?) both CNC. The Novakon is running but the Hercus is not. I removed the unreliable Mach 3 based control and it will be replaced by a centroid acorn.

Tool Tools you acquired that are useless

Best pliers I have found for gripping round things are knipex cobras. They grip very well. Also handy for finishing the bends on cotter pins in weird places. You are welcome to my set of robogrips if I can find them. I'm going to be getting rid of tools I no longer use. I gave away a set of...

Tool Tools you acquired that are useless

I'm a bit surprised how popular Milwaukee is. I bought one a few years ago to use as a screw gun and I considered it to be unacceptable. I work a lot of the time under things so there are two things I like in a screw gun. Light weight and a good clutch. The Milwaukee is a bit heavy but that is...

Tools you waited too long to acquire

The magnetic sign material they use at sign shops to make the ones that stick on cars and are removeable is what I use. Easy to cut to any shape and just lay it on top of your mill table.

Tools you waited too long to acquire

2 tools I waited way too long to acquire are mechanics tools. I work in aviation and mainly on a type of plane where it seems ease of maintenance was an afterthought. The two tools are very long needle nose pliers and a flex head ratchet. I worked for the first 20 to 25 years without them. Now...
