Are wives (or husbands...) that bad?

It's been a few years since my wife came into the shop at all. I probably should go back in the house and check if she is still alive.

Yeah, I get that. We live in a great neighbourhood. At one point it had the lowest crime rate in Calgary. However, the house next to us is a rental and the landlord is a piece of work. He's consistently rented to criminals that have backed into our vehicles, tried to break into our house, done...

That Honeywell 6 Zone Kit is pretty reasonable at $299...and expandable. Alarm systems, even the basic ones, are like CCTV. If you have 6 zones today, you find a need for 7 zones tomorrow. 10K worth of CCTV cameras back me up on this claim. Sadly.

What are your requirements? How many doors and windows? Is it just magnetic switches you want as triggers together with a siren or horn? You are really in Arduino territory here (and inexpensive too). While I am not a great programmer, that's pretty simple stuff.

Is Google translate really that bad?

Valid point. We used to have a saying: You get what you pay for. And no one pays for the writer.

Is Google translate really that bad?

As someone who started in Mechanical Engineering and ended up in English Literature (of all things), I can relate totally. I worked as a Technical Writer for years and can tell you it isn't just about translation; the underlying instructions are almost always flawed as well. My favorite was...

Compressed air on the lathe or mill

Agreed. As do I Dusty. I heard once that if you run the older (cleaned) brushes against a belt or disc sander it frays the tips and they pick up the fine stuff better. I've never tried this, but strongly suspect you would need to take care and angle the brush downward—well away from the...
