    Machine enamels?

I blue some parts which adds a nice colour and some light corrosion protection, but blueing does not add any thickness to the surface, so every scratch is visible and it rubs off over time too. But as I understand it Japanning is a lacquer based finish. I wonder if it is durable enough for use...

    Machine enamels?

I Powder coat would be good in many situations. The issue there is that the oven destroys the Bondo ! and its an expensive job whether outsourced or purchasing the powder coat kit. I almost pulled the trigger on one before hearing about the Bondo problem.

Long shot... Emco Maier V10/P tailstock

Yeah thats what bothers me. I suspect the bore has become work hardened. When I purchased the machine 25 years ago, there was evidence of some brutality, and one area in particular was the tailstock. The previous user had a collection of MT2 large diameter drills. Judging by the galled and...

Long shot... Emco Maier V10/P tailstock

My old girl turned 60 this year. She was built in 1964 and still does the job! But the tailstock is quite sloppy - the barrel and sleeve are worn, and when the cotter is tightened, the barrel moves horizontally by a couple of thou. It has a Morse 2 internal taper which is also damaged and...
