  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Well their 50t press can barely handle 12t so I assume 20t press may have issues above 5t.

    Product Price of tooling

Over 8 years this is not bad at all - Bank of Canada says 3150. So only 150 over inflation. BB lathe is way over through - it is over by 900 or almost 25 % more than inflation!

Looking for a tailstock for a small lathe (Craftex B2227L)

Well.... they sent the upper casting for the tailstock.... AND ... a discount coupon for adult diapers! I am not sure if this is just coincidence or someone at BB is making fun out of me. Anyways it explains the low price - I find where BB is in Calgary and be forced to drive there to get...

    Cutting oil around 20L / 5gal

Mystery cutting oil - light yellow in color and rather thin. I got 3 x 20L looking to sell 2 x 20L. Since its a mystery oil I only want $30 per 20L pail. I used it little bit for cutting - seems to work - but I am not sure how well - maybe I test it against some well know stuff. Located in...

How do I remove the chuck backplate on Craftex CX708

I now have the same lathe (B2227L ). It takes 5" chucks from China. For 6" you need a lot of work. Chucks are cheap - I got 5" for 82 shipped to the door last week. I would not bother with 6" - just get a 5" and zero work.

    The oldest Chipmaster in captivity

I also have a chipmaster - had little fight with it yesterday when I had to go all the way to the manual to figure out how to change gears on the back for a thick thread. There are differences with newer model - but overall same shape.

    Gear 3D print file generator

I used it to print about a dozen gears so far - but all of mine are M1 spur gears - no size issues.
