    Upgrade on lathe and mill.

Eastern trouble maker?! o_O I suppose I do make a few contraptions but that’s the point isn’t it? Always fun to poke the bear a bit and look at things from a different direction.:p Other folks may have different hardware but setting up the TTA on my Myford can be done more precisely than the...

    Upgrade on lathe and mill.

And the contrarian voice pipes up...........I've used mine for a bunch of things, a TTA is on the list of to do's for my recently acquired SM 1120. No Morse tapers yet but I have used it to cut a JT to mount a Jacobs chuck. D

    Tool Drill Doctor Experience

I too have a 750 and for me it works well because I can’t hand grind a drill for beans. My only real complaint is that the diamond grit wheel in it could be finer. Before getting mine I used one at the office that was well used and it gave a smoother finish, I think that was because the wheel...

    Eclipse

Update: We didn't hear a "boom", maybe if we knew to listen we'd have noticed. Interesting though and I found a few links that talk about it: Link 1, Link 2, Link 3, @Susquatch , I can't speak to the quality of their science. I also got a few photos: Our rigs: On the right using a pair of...

    Eclipse

Ms. Tecnico and I zipped up to Bouctouche NB for the afternoon. We had severe clear skies** and a nice warm day for the show. Well worth her playing hookey for the afternoon! Lucked in on a great viewing spot and not too crazy traffic. I MacGuyvered a couple of indirect viewers to compliment...

    Nardini lathe, $3500, Oakville, ON

Since it was sold by them, a quick call to HH Roberts might bag you a pdf manual. I spoke to them in my mill shopping quest and found them to be willing to chat and offer advice. D

    Single Phase Motor Vibration?

Hah! Maybe they grow on trees in southern Ontario but in these parts not so much! The centrifugal switch is working. I actually set up an experiment to isolate the (only) start cap while running to verify whether it made a difference - as expected, no effect. We do this stuff to learn, so...

    Single Phase Motor Vibration?

Even better, I still have the Myford so I've got that covered. I'd probably have 60 Hz chatter over anything I'd do with the 1120 and that motor.;) D

    Single Phase Motor Vibration?

I’ve been through the windings and no shorts, winding to winding or to the case and no open circuits in the windings. Of course that wasn’t running and not with a megger. (Man, iPads hate that word, keeps changing it) Yes, I’d say the vibration is 60 Hz. The guy I talked to thought he could...
