The hypocrisy and unfairness in schooling

+1 To your point I leaned toward candidates that got their hands dirty fixing their cars etc. (like farm boys) vs those that took them to the dealer and had no idea how they worked. D

Tips/Techniques Vernier caliper mod to be able to measure dividers and trammel

The forum doesn't like iPads, the thumbnail link still doesn't work. Sorry for the thread wander but it did come from the linked photo.... D

CA-BC Amazon.ca vs direct from Accusize?

My experience as well. They went out of their way to do what they could to satisfy my needs and in the end refunded and provided shipping at their cost to return the item. D

    Pictures

+1 EDIT: I should mention that the problem happens on my iPad. D

Well played! It would be even better if the forum would show the full size images…………image not found.. D

    Making louvers

Looks great! Nice and straight and even. Amazing what the eyeball says about what’s right vs the tape. Was there some fixturing involved or is that just plain good hands on, old skool craftsmanship? D

    Standard Modern 12x30

Ok, that’s about what I thought the discussion would be but wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing something. D

    Standard Modern 12x30

What is your thought there? Is it because carbide inserts, because of how they’re formed/sharpened, will cut to a different size/depth depending on things like depth of cut? Just curious. D

    Windows Networking question

+1 I’ve resurrected umpteen electronic devices with failed electrolytic caps. Computers, power supplies, monitors, routers, more than I can count. My dual desktop monitors & both of my shop monitors are rescued, failed units. Any electronics that fail or act up are suspect. Interesting to...

    Fabricated Fixture plate

Now that I look at a picture of one you’re right, kinda high. Maybe there’s something closer. I too like to draw on “parts bin Engineering” to repurpose things like that. I saw a picture of an Audi OHC rocker with a central roller that was a better looking shape. The roller/shaft would have...

    Fabricated Fixture plate

Seeing this disturbed the dust in my memory and made me ponder using some cast off rockers from an old small block Chev. Is that a crazy thought? It would probably need some sort of a post to stand in for the pushrod but that wouldn’t be too hard to come by and the fulcrum ball would be a...

The “free” First LC-1 1/2 VS Mill

My First is a TM but they’re pretty well the same machine otherwise. My machine actually creeps up just a bit when fully extended but otherwise it stays put so I assume it’s behaving correctly or at least acceptably. I think I’d rather have it creep up a bit rather than down. D
