    Mystery lathe, for real

Couldn't control myself, dismantled everything, threw it in a bucket with some evaporust type solution and 7 hrs later they were clean, a few minutes on the wire wheel and they are ready to work again. I can see why they are so highly regarded, wonderful design. The tool that is on it is the...

    Mystery lathe, for real

Yeah, that's exactly what it is, I hadn't looked at it closely until you mentioned it. I know I have all these other jobs I have to attend to but I don't think I'll be ale to keep my hands off the Mutifix today, if nothing else, get all of them soaking in some evaporust. Every one of them is...

Yeah, she smiled on me today but you guys know as well as I do how many duds you have to go see to finally get lucky. He was good guy, just trying to clear the stuff out before they move to a bigger shop. He says he'll keep an eye out for anything they find that might be lathe related, I think...

    Mystery lathe, for real

Got her home in many pieces, it will have to sit untouched for a while as I have to finish a bunch of other projects first. 6 chucks altogether, a couple I never seen before. Popped the top off and gears look very nice, they mesh and spin well.

    6 jaw chuck - Fort erie - $100/jaw

Dumb question, what is the advantage of a 6 jaw over a 3 jaw?

    Mystery lathe, for real

Exactly what I was thinking about doing, 800 rpm is a bit limiting.

    Mystery lathe, for real

I am now the proud new owner of a Colchester Bantam, 11" x 20" or there abouts. The company bought it wrapped in that plastic 13 yrs ago and it has been sitting in a corner ever since. Doesn't look like it has done any time in a high school, the ways look good with no dents that I can see at the...
