Cranking that head up and down is killer on the shoulder - I recently tore my rotor cuff and it gives me a workout - must be getting old. LOL
I picked up the gear head motor from Princess Auto for $9.99. The 12v speed control from Amazon for $24 and a 12v 5A power supply for $18. The metal was just what I had sitting in the bin (mainly from the cut-offs from Metal Supermarket). All in around $70.
Mind you its not the fastest...

So here is an interesting story. I wanted to get a pair of the 10" Knipex Cobra Pliers. So I do a quick google search and I see Mississauga Hardware selling them for 49.99 and Atlas Tools selling it for 48.99.

Oh that was a small project I did last year. I had a few feet of leftover LED strip light from another project. I simply added several rows of it to a piece of acrylic and soldered all the pieces together. I bored a big hole in the center of the plastic and have a press fit on the spindle...
Hmmm - I wonder if the DRO and scales are setup correctly? Are the scales 1 micron or 5 microns? Do you have the DRO setup to match the scale's precision?
