  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Really ?

It gets really confused when there isn’t any side of the road- 1 lane and two way traffic roads with rock walls 6” off to the sides. It oscillates between the two sides and it can get a feedback loop going between me and it, kinda like a 737-800 Max! Guess I need to read the users manual?

    Really ?

I’m renting a Kia Sportage PHEV and touring Ireland with it. This car needs a lobotomy to be driven. Lane keeping assist that fights you for control, beeps at you every which way if someone is too close front back or side which they always are on the roads over here. Have to disable it every...

    Weiss VM32 CNC Conversion

I prefer optical encoders over rotary, electronics skills are not any more necessary than for a rotary encoder. I'm traveling at the moment otherwise I'd share the ones I got from Digikey, pretty inexpensive and with 3D printing should be a snap to mount.

    Looking into 3d printing

Our price is more or less tied to the CAD/US exchange rate. The real question is how much in US $ and is that less than before? I paid $659US that converted to $959 CAD but had added on 4kg of filament.

On my Emco lathe, it just has an extra deep slot. Don't know if lcnc is picky about placement but I suspect not as the placement of the sensor would also need to be spaced exactly as well if the signals needed to be at the same time, and I just slapped my sensors in. I either have a great deal...

Does it have an index slot in it? I think it needs that for tapping.

    Jacobs Super Chuck or clone?

Get yourself a pin spanner, much better for loosening off when it’s over tight. I have lots of keyless chucks from Asian sources and they’re all pretty good, especially in a tail stock where they don’t spin, runout isn’t a big deal.

    CA-ON Small Fasteners

I bought some BA sockets and wrenches (spanners) from MACC models in the UK. I was buying a bunch of BA fasteners and steam fittings, and the sockets were really cheap, the spanners a bit more but worth it if dealing with BA sizes. They have other options but those are more pricey...

    SM 10" Utilathe tweaks

Are you planning on keeping the CX706? If so I'd plan to keep the Utilathe fully manual. Yes, DRO and 3PH+VFD are a must in my books. Does it have a quick change tool post? Other tweaks are locks and stops on the carriage if not present. As for quieting the gearbox, I need to find a solution...

    Design/G Code software

The machine you have doesn't have a tool changer so no real reason to create complete programs with the tool changes included. You need to touch off your new tool before continuing as the collet doesn't repeat in Z. When posting the different ops from Fusion, just give them prefixes for their...

    Car designs suck

I used to travel for work a lot and rented many cars. I got to know which brands had interiors that were more durable. Chrysler were not in the top rankings, pieces would always be falling off on those cars. Toyota were durable but plain, Ford were ok, better than GM. Jeep were terrible (...

    Aluminum

Be careful of hard anodized aluminum, the anodizing is not conductive if you are using a probe that needs conductivity to trigger.
