    Splined coupler

A variation on the theme is that the crank handle retracts the pin (the 2 disks stay close to one another all the time). Maybe a better solution in that the center shaft doesn't need to be as long, and doesn't get in the way while cranking.

Can't access threads when logged in, can see them when logged out

whenever I go to check on a thread I've commented on, I'm getting a server error. Weirdly enough, the same threads open if I'm logged out. Also getting an error that upload failed to the server...

    Splined coupler

My 2 minute sketch of what I was thinking of: The plate with holes is keyed to the shaft, the handle spins on the shaft, and pushes it pin into the holes, spring holds it in place. I'm sure I've used something like this before.

    Splined coupler

I was thinking like PeterT but even more basic. Hand wheel side is a disc with a pin in it at some radius out - say 1". Shaft side has a disc with 8 or more holes at the 1" radius, and can be retained to the shaft numerous ways (2 set screes 90 apart, keyed, etc.) Shaft passes through to the...

Elliott dividing head, $150, Ottawa, ON

mine! Thanks for the heads up. Nice gentleman selling it. Like I said, he also has a Clarkson T&C grinder for $300. I almost bought it but I've already spent all my allowance money for this month and next.

    Rust is the Enemy

One of our customers specified a breather valve for our electrical enclosure box, its a simple (but expensive) one way valve to let air and moisture out but prevent flow back in. The idea being that any accumulation of moisture has a way out. Another idea, think about what they do to toilet...

    Belt Sander Electrocution

I get static shocks too on my small belt grinder if I hold the piece against the belt and do not contact the table. The belt itself can generate static electricity along with plastic pulleys. I see your table is covered in tape, that is probably insulating the metal you're sanding from the...

CLARKSON TOOL AND CUTTER GRINDER, $2000, Vanier, ON

I just learned a new trick - didn't know you could get better resolution of the Kijiji pictures! They always showed up as small maybe 200x300 pixel images, just clicking on them did nothing. Was wondering how Craig got a bigger picture... right click open image in new tab did it...

CLARKSON TOOL AND CUTTER GRINDER, $2000, Vanier, ON

Well, that is the dirtiest cutter grinder I've seen listed. And the location of Vanier doesn't line up with "south of Ottawa" as Vanier is practically downtown, nearly beside parliament hill. Maybe I'm cheap but $2k also seems a bit steep, or is it just the dirt, grime and crappy pictures that...

    Universal mill

Was a bit disappointed that the GC Surplus auction suggested this as I only subscribe to notifications for machinery items - I guess its machinery of sorts...and called a universal mill.... https://www.gcsurplus.ca/mn-eng.cfm?snc=wfsav&nscn=R5OT0016009&notifBuyNo=1161203&notifBuyCd=20250408063000

Cast iron T-slot plate and accessories for trade or sale

The fixture plate is 360mm x 360mm with 60mm centers. No idea where its from / who made it. It does have engraved/laser etched on the top made in China and presumably part number on the side but I can't find it. It is definitely metric - its 360mmx360mm with 60mm centers for the squares. (...

Build your own CNC - basic mill frame $2950 obo - Quebec City, QC.

https://www.facebook.com/share/1AJ9tCSPxB/ This is actually a good deal looking at whats on offer. For about $5k to $6k total you could build a pretty nice machine that is brand new.

    Mikes shop activities

Looks doable for both vertical and horizontal mounting using a simple 1/2" thick plate mount for the motor.
