    Machines and accessories for sale

The Rusnak vertical head is quite nice, but be aware the collets are an oddball- make sure you find all the ones that went with the machine as they are hard to find used.

    Machines and accessories for sale

It’s unfortunately common for kids to wind up selling their parents home shops. I’ve helped some locals and participated in sales in these circumstances. In fact the first tool I bought was from an elderly model engineering club member’s sale. I still recall Bert M and his kindness to a little...

    3-ton Dake press $400 Victoria

That’s a lot less expensive than I would have thought. Also suggests they sell enough of them due to breakage to have advantage of scale in manufacturing and keeping some on the shelf.

    Bernerd D1-4 Collet Chuck

IMO, the collets alone are worth what you are asking. You may want to state if that is a KC-15 set, or something else. Closers for different spindle types come up frequently. Probably just the angle of pic, but I cannot tell if you have the nose piece to draw in the collet?

Herbert Lathe & Camelback Drill $5000 Valemount BC

But Valemont is a nice little town. Surprisingly good restaurant on the main drag. Remember it fondly as the place to drink ice cold somethings late in the evening, and put bags of ice on our knees having come down from near summit of Robson to road in a day. Knees haven’t been the same since.

Better for shipping. Or you could clamp a fixed steady on far end of bed.

    Metal Bandsaw, $200, Trochu, AB

The fertilizer is the most valuable item in that picture. Carolina bandsaws are absolute crap. Get a Hyd Mech or DoAll in that size. Or go down one size and get one of the ubiquitous Taiwan 7x12’s.

    Pennsylvania A3 Switcher Errata

Quinn, I don’t know where in B.C. you are located, but seeing your interest in steam and if anywhere near lower mainland, I’d suggest a trip to see Chris Hollands 1.5” scale 4-6-6-4 Challenger. I know he’s trying to sell it, but if a person times it right you may still be able to see his...

Is the grinder a Deckel S1? I vaguely recall someone made a near copy- Alexander? Someone else?

Tips/Techniques Need help surface grinding a tapered cross slide gib (Okanagan)

Ah, sorry, didn’t realize you’ve already been done that path. Nice work! Nothing sophisticated about what I did to the knee. Just a well placed hole so I can pull a strap clamp with spacers on each end for enough leverage into bottom of gib. Kinda hard to drill a hole into bottom of the knee...

Tips/Techniques Need help surface grinding a tapered cross slide gib (Okanagan)

Bridgeport gibs are notorious for breaking, and as you found the vertical way can get jammed if you try to push the knee instead of the gib. An option is to flip the mill upside down and drill access thru base for a brass drift to push the vertical gib up. (Thanks to Forrest Addy for that tip)...

    Deckel FP1 2500$ loaded , Cornwall ON

Hate to be negative, but this mill says tread carefully to me. Early first generation machine. Might even be pre war. No motor on the cast iron plinth at the base. Why? Without, how do you plan to test the horizontal spindle? And the gear box. Where are the tables? Why is it using a high speed...
