  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Calgary v22 osprey's

High angle of attack slow speed flying looks great from the outside, but I’d imagine it’s plenty stressful on the airshow pilot in a plane like a CF-18 that doesn’t thrust vector. I’m sure the CAF has graduated levels of methods to seek a wayward pilots attention. And compliance. About...

    Calgary v22 osprey's

Yeah, fair point, but it’s like anything else, pilots have to fly to stay sharp and current. The kerosene (and wear and tear on the plane) is going to get burnt whether there’s a G7 or not. How much do you like your corn flakes? ;-)

I’ve seen flights of F-18’s (American AF) from the air- NOT during an intercept. Good looking birds altho not as fascinating to me as their contemporary Mig 29’s. Suspect Canada has assets such as CF-18’s based in Calgary for this little meeting, so not that far or expensive as scrambling from...

As an Air Force brat I think Ospreys are very cool! Wouldn’t fly in one, but cool. Even the Blackhawk that now flies over my house to take a look see at the border daily is cool and has a much more energetic growl/flap sound than the 407’s I’m accustomed to. Will there be a nice chinook blowing...

    Machines and accessories for sale

The Rusnak vertical head is quite nice, but be aware the collets are an oddball- make sure you find all the ones that went with the machine as they are hard to find used.

    Machines and accessories for sale

It’s unfortunately common for kids to wind up selling their parents home shops. I’ve helped some locals and participated in sales in these circumstances. In fact the first tool I bought was from an elderly model engineering club member’s sale. I still recall Bert M and his kindness to a little...

    Bernerd D1-4 Collet Chuck

IMO, the collets alone are worth what you are asking. You may want to state if that is a KC-15 set, or something else. Closers for different spindle types come up frequently. Probably just the angle of pic, but I cannot tell if you have the nose piece to draw in the collet?

    Pennsylvania A3 Switcher Errata

Quinn, I don’t know where in B.C. you are located, but seeing your interest in steam and if anywhere near lower mainland, I’d suggest a trip to see Chris Hollands 1.5” scale 4-6-6-4 Challenger. I know he’s trying to sell it, but if a person times it right you may still be able to see his...

Tips/Techniques Need help surface grinding a tapered cross slide gib (Okanagan)

Ah, sorry, didn’t realize you’ve already been done that path. Nice work! Nothing sophisticated about what I did to the knee. Just a well placed hole so I can pull a strap clamp with spacers on each end for enough leverage into bottom of gib. Kinda hard to drill a hole into bottom of the knee...

Tips/Techniques Need help surface grinding a tapered cross slide gib (Okanagan)

Bridgeport gibs are notorious for breaking, and as you found the vertical way can get jammed if you try to push the knee instead of the gib. An option is to flip the mill upside down and drill access thru base for a brass drift to push the vertical gib up. (Thanks to Forrest Addy for that tip)...
