  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Drilling with the cross slide

when drilling deep holes with the tail stock I often retract the drill by loosening the tailstock from the ways and yanking the whole thing back. I pull back on the drill chuck to avoid any taper disconnects. Clean, oil, and reverse it back in to close to the hole bottom. Then start drilling by...

    Drilling with the cross slide

I don’t follow the benefits of this - how is this different from a drill chuck in the tail stock? A motorized drill on the cross slide is useful - I have a post on making one of those from an electric hand drill on here someplace…

A near miss and big consequences

So the next one is measles and here it comes. My spouse phoned healthlink here in AB. She learned before 1972 or so the vaccine was pretty ineffective and recommended a booster. I’m certain I never got that one so I’m due for two shots. Call 811 and you can make an appointment. Mine is May 31.

    I need a nut

I made this red adapter for my router. I was positive the finger bolts for the rails were 1/4-20. I measured it with the calliper and the thread gauge. The bolts would not go in past a bit of a turn what the heck? I printed it again and same issue. So I recheck the bolts carefully and a M6x1.25...
