    It’s got 3 - 3 jaw chucks, a nice Japanese 4 jaw, a faceplate and live centre.

I found another thread where you asked for someone’s email to send them a copy of the manual that you have, would you mind sending it to me as well? I’ll PM you my email.

Well it looked pretty good to me so I bought it! Just gotta figure out how to get it out of there now, there is only about 6’3” of headroom and some gravel to get past but I’ll find a way. Time to find a manual for it and do some reading on moving lathes.

I should be taking a look tonight if the seller can make it. I know the basics of inspecting one, anyone have some smart tips I might not have thought of? And stay away David! Lol

That’s what I thought, seems low risk even if I don’t like it. Trying to get out and see it tonight just waiting to hear back from the seller

Look at this post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/jbC71shB2AbTuFPa/?mibextid=79PoIi Seems like a a decent deal, I’m considering picking it up to learn on until I decide which newer or better lathe to buy. I saw one of these posted on here in the past and people seemed to think they...

Yup that’s the thread I was reading, didn’t realize it was yours! It was a good read for someone like me.

A lot of good advice and things to consider here, thanks again to everyone. Proxule’s comment on the quality of Precision Mathew’s has got me more willing to accept the higher prices. Their PM 1340 GMT ultra high precision looks so nice, then I see an 11k USD price tag once I add a stand and...

    Hello from Surrey

Lol I wish, I do have a pretty good budget for a hobby sized machine but I think that’s getting a bit high for me. I’m interested in everyone’s opinion on Precision Mathew’s vs Craftex vs King vs Grizzly. They all appear to use the same casting and mostly just rebrand it, I’m sure they do a bit...

    Hello from Surrey

Lots of good questions. I’m fortunate enough to be able to put this into my jobs shop so I’m fairly unrestrained, but I would like to move it into a garage shop when I get a house hopefully later this year. So for now room isn’t much of an issue, I have access to 20th cranes/5ton forklifts and a...

    Hello from Surrey

The rigidity and smoothness of heavier machines is one of the things that pushes me to go with a 12x36 and tempts me to go even bigger, cost and space brings me back to earth though lol. I’m curious what pushed you to buy new lathes each time? Knowing the problems that made a machine...

    Hello from Surrey

I just did the same while ordering some fixture tables for work, thought I went pretty big then the next day called back and went bigger. Yup, fully expecting to crash it, just hope I can keep the damage to tooling and not machine parts but that’s how I learn.

    Hello from Surrey

That’s been exactly my logic so far. There is so much to learn and so many ways to screw up when chasing zeros I’m not keen on having a bunch of unknown variables to track down instead of working on the operator problem. Glad to hear you’re happy with your purchase, seems like we’re on the...

    Hello from Surrey

Thanks, I think getting my hands on a bigger King lathe would help a lot. I know their bigger stuff and the industrial brand stuff is supposed to be better but spending 6-7k on something I haven’t seen and can’t return makes me uneasy. Coast has a JFMT JC 6232 that looks a lot more robust and...
